We decided to get in amongst the cruise ships in Weymouth Bay and check out what damage is being caused by anchoring for months on end. We expected a mess but nothing prepared us for what we came across! Every line and mark you see in this sonar image has been caused by anchors and their chains. Check out the scale at the bottom, we are looking at a quarter of a mile swath of seabed, so a large area. We know from experience a lot of the drags will be over a metre deep and It went on and on, this is just a small slice.
