“Four vessels were forced from their moorings, drifting out of the Cobb. These were the SPEAK, schooners POUDA, VULCAN and ANN & EMILY. Some of the vessels were partly laden with COAL, the greater part of which was lost. The shores which are strewn with the wrecks were visited by hundreds of people.”
