GIRNIGOE

GIRNIGOE 1

The steamship Girnigoe (Captain Scott), bound from Cherbourg to Poole with a cargo of stone, while in mid-channel on the night of the 27th inst., was struck by a heavy sea, with the result that the cargo shifted and an inrush of water extinguished the fires. The crew put off in the lifeboat, and at five o’clock yesterday morning the steamer foundered. The lifeboat was sighted by the schooner Malpas Belle, which brought the crew to Falmouth.
