Times: Friday, October 29, 1886, Issue 31903 – “The Sumatra, steamer, from Java for Amsterdam, with a general cargo and passengers, went ashore during thick fog at 10 p.m. on Wednesday on Chesil Beach near Fleet Coastguard Station, Weymouth. The tugs Queen and Commodore, of Weymouth, successfully got her afloat yesterday morning, and are accompanying the Sumatra to Portland.” Ship Incident
